MusiXine & OMVF in a Nutshell

Oulu Music Video Festival is passionate about visualization of music. Besides organizing a contest for Finnish music videos and archiving them for the past 15 years, every year OMVF has put together an international film and video programme that seeks out the hottest trends and dives into the music filled media memory of humankind. This resulted a wide range of director and artist retrospectives, music film showcases in various themes - multitude of musical genres and historical overviews. OMVF also hosts seminars, panels, live acts and performances spiced up with music.

The MusiXine International Music Film Contest  joined the OMVF program in 2007. MusiXine is a natural extension of the festival and its aspiration to better serve music fans better by premiering music films.

Establishing an international music film contest to highlight the festival's film programme was part of the European Union funded project "MusiXine" during years 2006-2007. The MusiXine project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Council of Oulu Region and the City of Oulu.

In 2009 the non-profit organisation Oulu Music Video Festival receives remarkable funding from the Cultural Committee of the City of Oulu, ESEK/LUSES: The Finnish Performing Music Promotion Centre, The National Council for Cinema and Finnish Cultural Foundation.
