Aida LiPera
Aida LiPera is a native New Yorker, who has been living in Scotland for the past 4 years. She holds a Masters Degree in European Cinema from the University of Edinburgh and has been working for the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) since 2003.
Two years ago she became a Programme Producer of Mirrorball, the music on film strand of the EIFF, and ever since has been curating a variety of music video compilations, feature films and live cinema events. She also coordinates the touring package of the Mirrorball programmes, which are screened at festivals, museums and cinemas across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
Besides her love of music and film, LiPera enjoys rooftop parties and mojitos on the cheap.
Aida LiPera was the Head of the MusiXine Jury.
Jappe Päivinen
Jappe Päivinen has studied directing at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. He has previously worked at Woodpecker Film, and is now a director at Otto Production.
During the past decade Päivinen has directed numerous TV commercials and music videos that have been awarded both in Finland and abroad. In 2004 he was chosen as the best drama director at the Finnish Venla Awards for his TV drama Skene (Mosquito, 2003). This productive director is cooking up new drama right now, too.
Emily Munro
Educated to doctoral level in film studies with a publications record, Emily Munro is a professional researcher with demonstrable knowledge of film history and theory as well as experience in producing high-quality articles.
Since October 2006, Munro has been working freelance on film-related projects. Currently she is working as an editor at the Copenhagen ThinkTank on European Film and Film Policy, Education Manager at Glasgow Film Theatre, and a freelance writer. Presently she is developing an idea for a feature-length screenplay, and she has recently won a national short film script competition. In autumn 2007, Munro will be teaching a screenwriting option at Glasgow University as part of the MA Film & Television Studies course.
Emily Munro, also familiar with education initiatives in cinemas, admits she's passionate about encouraging others to see the value and relevance of film in their own lives.
