Next weekend air guitars roar over the seas when Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and Japan choose their national air guitar champions.
US Air Guitar season 2009 ends to the Nation's capital on 7 August. The 25 best air guitarists in the country will be flown to Washington DC to compete for the US Air Guitar Championship Belt, a $1,000 cash prize, and the right to represent America at the AGWC. As defending US & World Champ, Craig ”Hot Lixx Hulahan” Billmeier has already won entry into the World Championships so the US will have two horses in this year's race.
The UK air guitar final will be held on 7 August at 02 Academy Islington, London. Before that there is still time to choose one more finalist and wave some kilts when the 1st ever Scottish tryouts takes place in Glasgow on 1 August.
The 3rd air guitar championships of Switzerland will be celebrated at Sommercasino in Basil on 7 August. It is going to be a rocky road to victory as two old friends from the AGWC will step up to the stage: Alessandro "Mystic Barrito" Veletta and Dirk "Lord Airness" Lüdi will challenge all air guitar rookies of Switzerland.
Air Guitar Canada is please to announce that for the first time, Winnipeg will play host to the 2009 Canadian Air Guitar Championship. Previously held in Toronto, the event will take place at Winnipeg’s Royal Albert Arms Hotel on 8 August 2009. Cole "Johnny Utah" Manson, winner of the 2008 Air Guitar Canada Championship, will travel to Winnipeg to defend his title. Manson finished 3rd overall at the Air Guitar World Championships last year.
Japan, one of the most victorious air guitar countries of the decade, has also announced the date for their national final. This year the Japanese air guitar championships will be a part of the massive Summer Sonic'09 festival on 9 August.
